
Student First Aid
Building lifesaving skills and confidence from an early age. The FAA Award in Student First Aid gives young people the practical skills and confidence to respond when someone is injured or suddenly becomes unwell.
Designed for learners aged 11 and over, this engaging half-day course introduces essential first-aid skills through clear demonstrations, practical activities and age-appropriate scenarios.
Students learn how to recognise an emergency, call for appropriate help and provide immediate care until a trained adult or emergency service professional takes over.

What will learners cover?
Learners will develop the confidence and practical ability to:
Understand the purpose of first aid
Assess an emergency safely
Call the emergency services
Carry out a primary survey
Manage an unresponsive casualty
Place someone into the recovery position
Perform CPR
Understand the purpose and safe use of an AED
Recognise and respond to choking
Control external bleeding
Respond to head injuries
Recognise broken bones, sprains and strains
Course information
Duration: Three hours
Delivery: Face-to-face practical training
Minimum learner age: 11 years
Maximum group size: 12 learners per trainer
Assessment: Practical demonstrations and ongoing assessment
Certification: Regulated FAA qualification valid for three years
Entry requirements: No previous first-aid experience is required
