
Paediatric Emergency First Aid
Small casualties. Essential skills. Greater confidence. Our Paediatric Emergency First Aid course provides learners with the practical skills and confidence needed to respond when a baby or child becomes injured or suddenly unwell.
This one-day course focuses on the most urgent paediatric emergencies. Through practical activities and realistic scenarios, learners will develop the ability to assess an incident, provide immediate first aid and care for a baby or child until professional medical help arrives.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for anyone who cares for, supervises or works with babies and children, including:
Nursery and early-years staff
Childminders and nannies
Teachers and support staff
Play workers and activity providers
Parents, carers and family members
It is also suitable for newly qualified early-years practitioners who require an Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification.
What will learners cover?
Learners will develop the skills to:
Understand the role of a paediatric first aider
Assess and manage an emergency safely
Carry out a primary survey
Manage an unresponsive baby or child
Place a child into the recovery position
Perform infant and child CPR
Use an AED safely
Recognise and respond to choking
Control external bleeding
Manage shock
Respond to minor injuries, bites and stings
Course information
Duration: One day, with a minimum of six hours of training
Delivery: Face-to-face practical training
Maximum group size: 12 learners
Assessment: Practical demonstrations and knowledge assessment
Certification: Qualification valid for three years
Entry requirements: No previous first-aid qualification is required
