This comprehensive three-day course is designed for employees who will act as designated workplace first aiders. Through practical activities and realistic scenarios, learners develop the ability to assess incidents, provide appropriate treatment and support a casualty until professional medical help arrives.

This course is suitable for employers and managers who need trained first aiders as part of their workplace first-aid arrangements.

It is particularly appropriate for higher-risk workplaces, larger organisations or businesses where a first-aid needs assessment identifies the need for a fully qualified First Aider at Work.

What will learners cover?

Learners will develop the skills to:

Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
Assess and manage an emergency safely
Carry out primary and secondary surveys
Manage an unresponsive casualty
Perform CPR and use an AED
Respond to choking, bleeding and shock
Treat burns, scalds and minor injuries
Manage fractures and suspected spinal injuries
Respond to head, chest and eye injuries
Recognise poisoning and anaphylaxis
Respond to heart attacks, strokes and seizures
Manage asthma, diabetes and other medical conditions
Record and report workplace incidents
