Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for employers and managers looking to strengthen their workplace first-aid arrangements by training nominated members of staff.

It is particularly suited to lower-risk workplaces or organisations where an Emergency First Aider at Work has been identified as appropriate following a first-aid needs assessment.

What will learners cover?

During the course, learners will develop the knowledge and practical skills to:

Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
Assess an emergency safely
Manage an unresponsive casualty
Place someone into the recovery position
Perform CPR and use an automated external defibrillator
Recognise and treat choking
Control external bleeding
Manage shock
Respond to minor injuries, including cuts, grazes, bruises and burns
Record and report workplace incidents appropriately

Duration: One day, with a minimum of six guided learning hours
Delivery: Face-to-face, practical training
Maximum group size: 12 learners
Assessment: Continuous practical assessment and knowledge checks
Certification: Successful learners receive an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification valid for three years
